Mary Kom, also known as Marvelous Mary, was born on November 24, 1992, in the Indian state of Manipur, in the small village of Kangathei. She became famous for her outstanding performances during highly anticipated matches.

Mary Kom is a well-known Indian amateur boxer and politician who is now serving in the Indian Parliament. She is the only female boxer who qualified for the London Olympics in 2012 despite having a relatively early boxing career. she has accomplished a lot. The only female boxer from India who was eligible to compete in the 51 kg flyweight division was Mary Kom, who also brought home a bronze medal for her country in this division. Aside from this, Sheis the only female boxer in history to have taken home a medal in each of her first seven international competitions. She has also won the World Amateur Boxing Championship six times (maximum by any woman). She is the first boxer in history to have won eight medals at championship events, including both men’s and women’s titles.

On April 25, 2016, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, the country’s current president, proposed Mary Kom for election as an honorary member of the Rajya Shabha, the upper chamber of the Indian Parliament. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, designated Mary Kom and Akhil Kumar as the national observers for the growth of Indian boxing one year after she was nominated by the Indian president as a member of Rajya Shabha.
